No, not me!!
Rachel was in in her first year of Ballet classes last year and absolutely loved it. And according to her teacher Ms Margaret she has a talent and is a very good and determined little dancer already.
Well, before everything happened with the school situation I had already decided that I didn't want to coach cheerleading anymore and she didn't act like she was in love with it so I told her that she might be able to take TWO classes this year.
So, after the recital she began to think of classes she would like to try, modern, broadway, jazz, tap and so on. Just in time too!! We got a brochure for 'camp' for the summer and she chose the jazz camp.
She just completed it this past Thursday and really had a ball.
One night of 'camp' class the teacher did a little exercise of 'self esteem' with the girls (of which there were only 3 and ALL were named Rachel). They each said one good thing about each other to be written down on that girls piece of paper, to look at when they are having a bad day, to help lift their self esteem, etc. Then they also put one statement about themselves on the piece of paper.
Rachel's said "I want to dance for the rest of my life."
HOW can we not encourage that? She's always like dancing around the house and wanted to take ballet classes etc (of course most litlte girls do at one time or another). And she really bloomed last year. I want to encourage her as long as she is loving what she is doing.
Oh, and after talking it over with Daddy she has decided she will stick with just ballet this year BUT she gets to take the twice a week class with Ms Margaret, and maybe next year get to try a different type of dance.
